Are all realtors the same? right? Wrong. Would you say that all doctors are the same? What about all lawyers? No. Tattoo artists? No. Well then why do people think that all realtors are the same? Research shows that almost 90% of new realtors quit in their first five years. This is not a business for the faint of heart. A seasoned realtor has been there and done that and can make a positive difference and thousands of dollars in your bottom line. An inexperienced or unsuccessful realtor on the other hand can really cost you, like picking a tattoo artist who accidentally permanently inked tattoo on your face. When it’s time for you to buy or sell a home, interview the agent or agents that you’re interested in working with.
Here’s what to look for. First, everyone knows a realtor. But not everyone knows a successful realtor, an experienced realtor. Find an expert. Hiring someone who doesn’t have the experience to negotiate on your behalf, on your best interest will not only cause you to lose a lot of money but also valuable time. Second, find a realtor that has your best interests at heart. They should inspire confidence. They should put you first over and above their commission check. This is about you and you should expect nothing less. Third, be sure they know how to properly market your home on your behalf. Just sticking a sign in the lawn and putting the home on the MLS is just not enough. Lastly, go with a realtor that you actually like. They’re going to be your business partner throughout the entire transaction. Good rapport goes a long way on working through obstacles together and getting the job done.
